“Find and Fix” drainage works underway on A449 to Coven
We are thrilled to report a great start to the “Find and Fix” Drainage works near Coven, Stafford M54 J2: A449 to Coven.
Over the years this section of the A449 has been plagued by localised flooding during heavy rainfall events. As such there have been many attempts to both identify the causes and rectify the problems.
Our latest package of works started along the A449 trunk road from junction 2 of the M54 to Coven in early May and are scheduled to run until mid-June. The scheme comprises not only the undertaking of detailed drainage condition surveys, but also the remediation works which will bring the surface water drainage system back into a serviceable condition.
This method of ‘Find and Fix’ is based upon our site supervisors compiling and submitting detailed defect schedules to the office at the end of each shift. This data is reviewed by our senior management team, along with the CCTV footage, to determine which defects are to be rectified with the remediation proposals submitted to National Highways for their approval on that same day.
This process requires close collaboration with both the Client and National Highways, thus allowing for the remediation works to be undertaken within the same traffic management phasing and road space booking which provides significant time and cost savings.
