Case Study

Project Overview

Project Activity: Drainage surveys & UV lining works

Length of Drainage Surveyed: 1500m

Hours of Works: Weekday Night-time working

Overview of Works:

Over recent years a large amount of arable farmland adjacent to the A5 at Oswestry, had been prone to extensive flooding during heavy rainfall events. As such there have been many attempts to both identify the causes and rectify the problems.

Crown Plus were commissioned in January 2023 to undertake detailed drainage condition surveys, and associated remediation works to bring the surface water drainage system back into a serviceable condition.

Upon undertaking the drainage survey works we identified that there were large sections of the drainage system impacted with tree roots. After undertaking extensive root cutting to clear the drainage system we installed three liners totalling 150min length in the 225mm diameter drainage system. The liners were installed using our liner using our new Speedy Light+ LED curing system.

By undertaking the repair works using this method allows our site teams to reduce the time it takes to cure a liner by up to six times. Using this technology, we can install and cure felt liners, invertible glass-fibre liners and glass fibre pull in liners.

This process required close collaboration with both the Client and National Highways, thus allowing for the remediation works to be undertaken within the same traffic management phasing and road space booking, providing significant time and cost savings.
