Project Overview

Project Activity: Pollution Control Devices (PCD) Remedial Works

Hours of Works: Weekday daytime working

Summary of Works: During inspection it was found that it was not possible to operate the pollution control valves at locations MP 41/9 (A) & MP42/5 (A) as the operating wheels were originally installed such that they were positioned just 250mm above the existing ground level.

A survey of the PCD’s was undertaken to determine the type of connection between the spindles and the valve stem. New spindles and wheels were ordered and installed. All works were undertaken using confined space working with hard shoulder closures.

The new wheels are now at a height of approximately 1.2m above ground level and the valves were proven to open and close effectively.
