Highway Drainage Remedials
Following the undertaking of detailed drainage surveys Crown Plus have the inhouse capability, resource and experience to efficiently and economically undertake any remedial works required to bring the drainage system back into a serviceable condition. We have the detailed knowledge and experience to undertake the most complex of schemes on pipe diameters ranging from 100mm to 1800mm.
Our expertise covers a range of rehabilitation techniques such as jetting & cleaning, root cutting, concrete removal & CIPP (Cured in Place Pipe) repairs.
These ‘no-dig’ pipe replacement methods involve inserting a liner impregnated with a special resin into a surface water pipe. Once inside, the liner is turned inside out and forced through using either water or air pressure; the liner is pushed out to bond with the interior of the pipe and the resin is cured or hardened. This creates a new pipe within the old pipe, restoring the integrity of the pipe.
Once the CIPP liner has been installed, any lateral (branch) connections mapped prior to the lining being fitted, are opened using advanced robotic cutters.
For localised repairs or short sections of drain, we instal CIPP patch liners. This involves positioning a short length of liner (typically 1000mm) which is wrapped around an inflatable packer. Once in place, the packer is inflated leaving the patch to form a new lining to that section of pipe. Several patches may be fitted end to end to make a longer repair.
Full CIPP relining and patch repairs are equally effective for creating long lasting solutions with minimal disruption.

Geographic Information System (GIS)
A Geographic Information System (GIS) is one which collates, stores, studies, manipulates and displays spatial information data. This data can be presented in a variety of formats ranging from a database through to a map showing differing graphical features. In addition, a GIS can combine data from multiple databases.
On-site Data Collection. Using the latest Trimble GPS technology, we log the GPS co-ordinates of assets for display within a Global Information System(GIS). This data is collected on toughpad tablets that use the latest data collection software. The software allows data such as visual observations and photographs to be assigned to an individual asset. Observations and photos are stored alongside measured data relating to the same individual asset. In addition, given the variety of applications, our bespoke software is tailored to suit your GIS project requirements.
Data Analysis. We have experience in the handling and interpretation of many complex datasets. As we manage the whole data capture and management process we can provide a simplified model that allows all stakeholders to understand and use. As we write our own scripts to suit the Clients individual requirements We present the data in a format suited to each client’s specific requirements..
Quick Asset Condition Surveys
Quick ACS is a powerful new connectivity survey method that utilises the latest camera technology to assess the condition of a pipe.
We can understand the condition of a sewer rapidly and affordably with the cameras. Using high-powered zoom optics, we can assess manholes, tanks together with sewer lines from an adjoining manhole.
It’s perfectly suited for:
- Diagnosing emergency call-outs
- Avoiding confined space entry
- Conserving CCTV resources
- Performing a rapid, system-wide assessment
- Prioritising CCTV, cleaning, and rehab activities
- Viewing pipes too deteriorated for a traditional CCTV rig
Therefore, we can carry out surveys faster, and offer additional data capture that helps clients manage assets more effectively. This is a valuable and cost-effective alternative to carrying out detailed asset defect surveys. A team of two technicians can survey up to 1.5 kilometres of highway drainage assets per shift. That compares with no more than 500 metres for a conventional robotic crawler camera team. In turn this reduces the amount of Traffic management required and road space bookings.

Assessment and Inspection Surveys of Balancing Ponds
Balancing ponds are a critical asset within the Highways Authorities drainage network. These assets provide critical pollution control and important attenuation capabilities in the event of heavy or prolonged rainfall. We offer a comprehensive survey service for these assets. Topographical surveys are undertaken to accurately map the location of the ponds and all their attributes such as anti-pollution devices, all vital components of a quality report detailing full condition assessment.
In addition, we can calculate the depth of silt in the ponds using sonar surveying technology. The surveys allow the owner to assess the capacity/performance of the asset and plan routine maintenance such as silt/sludge clearance.
All survey data obtained on site is then collated and processed in the office by our team of technicians using the latest CAD and GIS software. A complete report can be prepared for the client along with a fully compliant ESRI SHP File for upload to the HADDMS database if required.
